Estate Claims
Claims Against The Estate
Any person to whom a deceased had a
responsibility to make provision for in their will can make a claim
against the estate. Surprisingly, this occurs more often than you
think. Claims must be made within six months from the grant of
probate (subject to extensions). Examples of people who commonly
make a claim include;
·
Spouses and de-facto spouses
·
Former spouses and de-facto spouses
·
Children of the deceased
·
Step-children of the deceased
·
Any person who was dependent at some time upon the deceased person
